Our Programs

  • Mentoring - Workshops for AK’s student’s include topics such as positive self identity and personal vision, life skills, social and emotional skills, moral character, work ethic and lifelong learning.  All Mentoring AK’s techniques are developed using S.M.A.R.T. Goals and utilize multiple mentoring relationship models.

  • College preparation – The AK Betterment Foundation provides a critical service. We help students develop the financial plan to get into college, and to afford their education once enrolled. We also instruct low-income and first-generation students on the transitioning from high school to college. Workshops such as FAFSA Completion and Freshman Year Do’s and Don’ts are some of the programming offered.

  • Scholarships – Scholarships are awarded via monetary grants and/or donated items such as laptops, supplies, clothes, etc are given to students who demonstrate need. Applications for financial scholarships are taken via hand to a chair member of AK Betterment Foundation.

  • Back to school transportation – For those students needing transportation to and from college, AK Betterment Foundation will use resources to help students travel free of charge.
